The Nessun Dorma Draft: Division One 1984-85

"Reid's cross, GRAY! What a fantastic goal!"

Our last draft of the year goes back to 1984-85, the season when the greatest team in Everton’s history romped to the title. Martyn, Gary and Mac Millings select their XIs from Division One that season. As you can imagine, Gary was like a pig in Chardonnay throughout.

The list of players up for grabs includes Neville Southall, John Barnes, Kenny Dalglish, Gary Lineker, Trevor Steven and Bryan Robson.

You can listen the pod and then vote for the winning team @nessundormapod.

These are the rules of the Nessun Dorma draft:

  1. Each player can only be picked by one person. When Big Nev has gone, he’s gone.

  2. Players are judged solely on their performances in Division One in 1984-85. Norman Whiteside’s FA Cup-winning goal is not admissible evidence.

  3. You decide who wins the draft. Go to Twitter/X (@nessundormapod) to choose which team you think is the best. The poll will close at 5pm on Friday (UK time).

Do us a favour and tell one person about the draft.
